What is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)?

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
A healthy baby under 12 months old is found dead after falling asleep ,
This refers to cases where a clear cause of death cannot be found .

It mainly occurs in infants between 1 and 6 months of age.
In fall and winter , especially between late at night and 9 a.m.
It tends to happen more often.

✅ Sleep tips for prevention (recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, AAP)

- Lay the baby on his back and put him to sleep
-> Always place your baby on his/her back. The prone position increases the risk of SIDS.

- Provide a firm and flat sleeping space
A hard, flat baby bed or cradle is safer than a soft bed.

-The sleeping space should be as simple as possible.
→ Do not place blankets, pillows, cushions, stuffed animals , etc. near the baby. There is a risk of suffocation.

-Sleeping together in the same room, in different beds
Sleep in the same room as your parents, but avoid sharing the same bed. Use a separate, safe crib.

-Breastfeeding recommended
→ Studies have shown that breastfeeding helps reduce the risk of SIDS.

-NO cigarettes, alcohol, drugs!
During pregnancy and after childbirth , smoking, drinking, and taking drugs must be avoided.

Small actions can save your baby's life.
Please create a safe sleeping environment. 🌙👶💤
